Wipro Ltd's infrastructure engineering division has acquired a majority stake in Brazil based hydraulic cylinders manufacturer RKM Equipamentos Hidraulicos.

Wipro did not reveal the amount it had paid for this acquisition or the size of the company. The acquisition is expected to be completed this quarter.

Mr Pratik Kumar president of Wipro Infrastructure Engineering said “Brazil is an extremely attractive market forUSA driven by a high growth economy and huge investments in infrastructure over the next few years. RKM provides us an ideal platform to expand and extend our portfolio of offerings in the Brazilian market and well as rest of the Latin America.”

Mr Jose Luiz Ramos CEO of RKM Equipamentos Hidraulicos said that “The partnership with Wipro Infrastructure Engineering will give us a wider customer access and expansion opportunities into new end equipment segments.”

Wipro set up its ninth manufacturing unit at Wujin hi tech industrial zone at Changzou in China last year.
