
The Jakarta Post reported that about 4,000 workers at the PT Suzuki Indomobil car and motorcycle assembly plant in South Tambun, Bekasi in West Java went on strike for the third day on December 9th 2011, paralyzing production.
Coordinator of the strike Mr Jacob said that the workers demanded that the company immediately pay year end bonuses, meal allowances, health expenses and overtime payments. In addition, they also asked the company to pay the pension allowances, of up to IDR 7.5 million each, to 105 people.
Due to the strike all production activity was brought to a standstill and raw materials could not be brought into the factory.
