Biz Journals reported that Mr Andrew Hounshell, a steelworker and union official, will kick off his campaign for John Boehner’s House seat today.

Mr Hounshell is vice president of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and represents hourly workers at AK Steel’s Middletown plant. He recently launched a campaign website and Twitter account, and a kickoff announcement is planned in Middletown this evening, WLWT reported.

Mr Hounshell introduced President Mr Barack Obama for his rally at Eden Park in September, but this will be his first campaign for office. He has worked at AK Steel since he left the Army, which he joined immediately after high school. Hounshell and his wife, Leah, have 3 year old triplets.

Mr Boehner won the 8th District seat in 1990 and has handily won re-election since.

In the 2010 general election, Mr Boehner won nearly 66% of the vote. He did not have a Democratic challenger last year.

The 8th District includes West Chester Township and stretches north to near Celina and east through Springfield and Clark County.
