The Manila Standards Today reported that listed Aboitiz Power Corporation will focus on 3 power projects in 2011 to raise its output by over 400 MWs.

Mr Luis Miguel Aboitiz SVP at Aboitiz Power said that the company was pursuing a coal fired power plant each in Davao City and Subic and the rehabilitation of the Ambuklao hydro electric plant in 2011. Aboitiz Power earlier announced plans to put up a 150 MW coal fired power plant in Davao using clean coal technology.

He added that "We are doing site investigation for the Davao coal plant."

Aboitiz Power and its partners in STEAG State Power Inc, operator of a 232 MW coal plant at the Phividec Industrial Estate in Villanueva, Misamis Oriental, have said that they would build a third unit near the facility to increase output by 150 MW.

Mr Aboitiz said the company was also choosing the engineering, procurement and construction contractor and equipment supplier for the Subic coal plant.

Aboitiz Power, through Redondo Peninsula Energy Inc, a JV with Taiwan Cogeneration International Corporation, will put up a 300 MW coal plant at the Subic Freeport. Aboitiz Power plans to commission the Subic plant by the middle of 2013.
