Air Liquide starts construction of oxygen plant 6 at AHMSA

Air Liquide company started the construction of the Oxygen Plant 6, Altos Hornos de Mexico as a result of the agreement between both companies with an investment exceeding USD 100 million.

The new plant will ensure the supply of industrial gases will require the full operation of new units within the AHMSA Phoenix Project, developed with its own resources to increase by 40% of its installed capacity of liquid steel.

The field work began with the excavations for the foundations of the new equipment, manufactured by a score of workers with the support of heavy machinery, hired through the company Quertech.

Located in an area of 15,000 square meters in the Steel 2, the plant will have capacity to produce 700,000 tonnes per day of oxygen, nitrogen and argon in addition, to provide greater capacity for current and future operations and market products AHMSA liquid on the market.

The new equipment will supply the largest volumes of industrial gases which will require the production units within the Project Phoenix, which has entered its final phase of development.

Designed to maximize the productive capacity and generate new products AHMSA Steel currently the country imports, the Phoenix Project mainly includes a new blast furnace operations currently designed by technicians AHMSA and electric steel furnace, a casting continued and a second plate rolling line.
