Alpha Finance Romania reported that aluminum producer Alro sees net profit falling sharply to EUR 16.6 million in 2009 from EUR 56.7 million in 2008. Sales are seen declining 51% YoY in 2009 to EUR 214.6 million on the back of falling aluminium demand and price.

Alro estimates its aluminum production will decrease from 288,000 tonnes to 216,000 tonnes in 2009. It plans to invest EUR 4.4 million in 2009 versus EUR 16.4 million in 2008. Its 2009 guidance was approved at the last shareholders' meeting.
