International technology group Andritz announced that it received an order from Baoji Titanium Industry Co Limited for the supply of cold rolling and strip processing equipment, including automation. The order value is approximately EUR 40 million and the production is scheduled to start in late 2010.

The order comprises a continuous pickling line for hot rolled and cold rolled titanium strip for the automobile and aerospace industries. With a capacity of approximately 20,000 tonnes per year, the plant will process strip in the thickness range from 0.3mm to 7mm up to 1,370mm wide.

Under the contract, Andritz will supply the mechanical equipment and complete pickling section including all ancillary equipment and will supervise erection and commissioning. In addition, the order includes a 20 high cold rolling mill, with an automatic roll changing system and a roll grinding machine. The rolling mill is designed for a maximum rolling speed of 400 m/min and will process titanium as well as stainless steel strip.

The complete electrical equipment for all plants, including drive systems, automation, and the required technological controls will also be supplied.
