
According to the data released by Argentina's Iron and Steel Producers' Center, in August this year Argentina's crude steel output amounted to 489,400 tonnes, falling slightly by 0.3% as compared to the previous month and up 3.4% YoY.
In August, Argentina's total hot rolled steel product output surged by 1.8% MoM to 499,600 metric tonnes, while a 1.6% decrease was recorded on year on year basis, including output of 249,700 tonnes of hot rolled flat steel products down by 2.6% MoM and 249,900 tonnes of long steel products, increasing by 6.75% compared to July this year.
In the given month, the country's cold rolled flat steel product output fell by 15.5% MoM to 116,500 tonnes, increasing slightly by 0.2% as compared to August 2010.
On the other hand, in the first eight months of this year, Argentina's crude steel production totaled 3.69 million tonnes, increasing by 9.9% YoY. However, as compared to the January to August period of 2008, the country's steel production in the corresponding period this year indicates a decrease of 5.7%
