Reuters reported that Australian steel producer BlueScope Steel remains opposed to a proposed USD 116 billion iron ore JV between BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto.

A BlueScope Steel spokesman said that "If there is any further concentration of raw material supplies, then as a company, we would have concerns about that. As far as our position is concerned, nothing has changed."

It may be noted that an Australian newspaper said that BlueScope has eased its opposition to the proposed venture.
