The Jakarta Post reported that upstream oil and gas regulator BP Migas has reported that the construction of the facility at Ruby gas field in Sebuku block off Kalimantan island is on track and is therefore expected to be up and running by September 2013.
The block's operator, Pearl Oil (Sebuku) Limited, will install 300 kilometer long pipeline from the production facility in the Ruby field to an onshore processing plant in Senipah field that is operated by Total E&P Indonesia.
BP Migas representative for Kalimantan and Sulawesi areas Mr Ngatijan said in a statement recently "The pipeline installation will start on September 20th 2012."
He said the Balikpapan city administration supported the pipeline installment as long as the construction did not overly disrupt fishermen and their activities. He added that "It would be good if we could list all of the fishing equipment around the pipeline with the help of the authorities of East Kalimantan."
Mr Ngatijan said Ruby field's initial production was expected to be about 100 million cubic feet per day and all of it would be delivered for PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur gas needs. He added that "The Ruby field project is categorized as a marginal field and it is expected to continue production for up to 10 years."
