
According to the provisional data released by the Brazilian Steel Institute, in May this year Brazil's pig iron exports came to 272,700 tonne increasing by 0.4% as compared to the same month of the previous year and down four percent compared to April of the current year.
In the first five months of this year, Brazilian pig iron exports reached 1.64 million tonne up 63.6% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Meanwhile, in May of the current year, Brazilian pig iron output increased 9.6% compared to the previous month, rising to 3.07 million tonne, while this figure is up 18.9 percent compared to May 2010. The pig iron production in the first five months of the year increased by 9.7% compared to the same period of the previous year, rising to 14 million tonne.
