According to statistics, Brazil's raw steel production fell by 4.1% YoY to 3 million tonnes in July 2012.

In July 2012, the country's rolled steel production increased by 11.5% YoY to 2.3 million tonnes while the sales of steel products in the Brazilian market remained unchanged since July 2011 at 1.8 million tonnes.

Meanwhile, Brazil's imports of steel products in July 2012 totaled 337,000 tonnes. In the first seven months of 2012, the country's steel product imports amounted to 2.3 million tonnes, growing by 8.2% YoY in comparison of that in the same period of a year ago.
