According to data, Brazil's imports of steel long products surged substantially by 36% MoM to 96,000 tonnes in June 2012.

Among them, the imports of rebar increased by 23% MoM to reach 16,000 tonnes.

Meanwhile, Brazil's imports of steel flat products also rose by 48% to reach 174,000 tonnes in June 2012.

The analyst at Barclays Capital predicted that the prices of steel flat products might stop rebounding soon as the surged imports may cause the Brazilian steel flat market face fierce price competiveness.
