
Official statistics data showed that Bulgaria's infrastructure construction output continued to decline in June 2011, recording a 21.5% YoY drop despite ground breaking on a number of projects.
According to the report by the National Statistics Institute, the largest drop on an annual basis of 28.7% was recorded in April 2011. In 2010, the sector displayed an overall increase in output compared to 2009.
Housing construction, as well as building of offices and large stores, fell by 4.4% in June compared to the same month of last year. At the same time, NSI registered an annual rise in industrial production of 2.2% in June 2011, bolstered by computer and communication electronics, pharmacy and tobacco manufacturing.
In monthly terms, however, the country's industrial output slid 1.5%.
