Bulgarian ministry of economy & energy said that Brazilian steelmaker CSN has demonstrated serious interest in possible investment in Kremikovtzi.

Mr Stoyn Pirlov technology director of Kremikovtzi said that CSN has asked questions mostly about the technical parameters of the troubled Bulgarian steel mill such as equipment, type and quantity of production and possibilities for extension. He added that CSN plan to visit Kremikovtzi in December 2008.

Mr Pirlov said that "We will have more answers after the visit. I think, they have strong interest in having a plant in Europe because they produce large quantities of iron ore. They have good metallurgy, but only inside the country and wish to expand their production."

Mr Pirlov also confirmed that the Ukrainian Smart group company continues to be interested in the mill and the negotiations with them were ongoing.
