It is reported that Chung Hung Steel has begun a USD 102 million project to build an oil and gas pipe production plant in Changhua County. With the new plant, the company aims to boost annual pipe production to 200,000 tonnes.

Chung Hung Steel's new plant is scheduled to go online in February 2013. It is the company's bid to become more involved in the North American and Australian oil and gas industries. The company will be building advanced pipes, tubes, and oil casings that are highly specific for the industry.

According to Chung Hung Steel, it is hoping for steady supplies of steel from China Steel and Dragon Steel to help it further enhance its role in the market.
