
Metal Expert reported that Greek welded pipes producer for oil and gas applications Corinth Pipeworks has expanded its pipe making capacity at Thivisi plant from 700,000 tonnes per annum to 775,000 tonnes per annum in October 2008.
Within the framework of the project, SMS Meer has modernized an existing pipe welding mill, expanding its capacity by 75,000 tonnes per annum to 475,000 tonnes per annum and increasing maximum pipe diameter from 610mm to 660mm. Thus, since October, the mill may start producing longitudinal pipes in diameters 219.1mm to 660mm and wall thickness 5.6mm to 20mm.
There is also another pipe mill in operation at the Thivisi plant, with the capacity of 300,000 tonnes per annum, producing spiral pipes in diameters 609.6mm to 2,540mm and wall thickness 6.35mm to 25.4mm. HR strip for pipe making operations is sourced from producers in Western and Eastern Europe.
Corinth Pipeworks sells about 15% of its products to domestic market and exports 85% to the US, UAE and China. Supplies are also possible to EU countries.
