In December 2010, Tenova Strip Processing received a contract from TERNIUM Mexico to modernize two existing Push Pull Pickling Lines. The main targets of this investment are to improve the strip quality, to increase the plant productivity from 0.8 million tonnes per tonne to 1.2 million tonnes per annum and to enhance the operator safety.

In particular, the upgrading of the Pickling line No 1 mainly consists in the modernization of the existing plants in order to increase the production and to guarantee better quality to the final product. The existing entry section will completely be replaced by a new one composed by doubled pass line and sophisticated equipment such as stitcher & notcher units and a tension leveler scale breaker; in the exit section a new side trimming unit will replace the existing one, all based on Tenova proprietary design.

The Tension Leveller and the Side Trimmer turret type are of the latest generation featuring complete automatic equipment set up and control.

The high strip elongation applied to the strip and the very good flatness are reachable thanks to the Tenova Tension Leveller Scale breaker, leading to an increase of the line productivity, reducing the acid consumption and improving the strip running into the process tanks and in the side trimmer.

The rotating feature of the Tenova Side Trimmer allows the blade changing in half minute minimizing the line stop time, the machine, designed with stiff design and tight mechanical tolerances, guarantees precise and reliable strip cuts.
