Daewoo International will open four new overseas offices in 2012 to establish seven regional headquarters within the company's global network.
The new offices will open in Chile's Santiago, Kazakhstan's Almaty, Canada's Calgary and Pakistan's Lahore, while the upcoming regional offices will be based in South America, CIS, Japan and North America.
Consequently, the number of overseas offices operated by the POSCO affiliate will be increased to 97 in 60 countries. Up until now, Daewoo International has operated three regional headquarters, respectively in Europe, Middle East & North Africa and China.
The company is determined to expand despite the fragile global economy.
A company official said that "We focused on the growth of certain regions in 2011, opening two new offices in Africa. This year, however, we will seek to open new offices in strategically important countries around the world, including Latin America, CIS and the Middle East."
The company expects the upcoming offices and regional headquarters will strengthen its already well established overseas network, enhancing the efficiency of communication and cooperation among different offices.
The official added that "The year 2012 will mark the first year that our overseas network is completed."
