The successful collaboration between Hoa Phat Steel and Danieli Morgardshammar, that initiated with the 300,000 tonnes per annum No 1 bar and wire rod mill in operation since middle 2002, continues with the hot start up of the second bar mill that took place in November 2009.

The 18 stand state of the art No 2 bar mill, entirely made up of SHS housing less stands, has a designed capacity of 350,000 tonnes per annum for production of 10mm to 55mm diameters deformed bars, rolled at rates of up to 60 tonnes per hour.

Double strand slit rolling technology is adopted for production of the smaller rebar sizes, while the QTB process enables production of up to 40mm diameter on line water quenched and self-tempered deformed bars. Electricals and automation system have been supplied by Danieli Automation.
