It is reported that a Florida firm is opening a new manufacturing plant in Springdale that will potentially bring dozens of jobs to the community.

The Springdale Chamber of Commerce said that Dixie Southern Custom Steel Fabrication opened a 50,000 square foot plant at 200 East Hwy 264.

Officials said that the plant opened with six employees and plans to grow initially to 15 as job orders allow.

The company said its 3 year goal is to hire 50 employees or more. The facility was previously home to Shiloh Steel Fabricators. The company said it would serve customers in its growing western, southwestern and Midwestern customer base.

Mr Doug Sprouse mayor of Springdale said that "This is an exciting announcement for Springdale. Recruiting Dixie-Southern and adding new jobs for our residents is a home run. This would not have happened without a team effort by the city, the Chamber of Commerce and the Arkansas Economic Development Commission."

Mr Stan Kinnett president of Dixie Southern said that the new plant would allow for greater steel fabrication capacity and efficient deliveries. He added that "The opening of this new facility is evidence of our growing customer base. This will only enhance the high quality products and service Dixie-Southern already offers its customers. We are extremely appreciative how the business and government leaders of Springdale went the extra mile to make us feel welcome and to help us complete this deal."

Officials said the company serves the power, water treatment, agriculture, food processing, chemical and petrochemical and general industrial markets across the United States and abroad.
