A major operator in the Gulf of Mexico made the decision to use Dopeless® technology for the production casing string of a new well. In 6,000 feet of water, the operator ran 13 5/8 in TenarisHydril Wedge 523™ Dopeless® connections for 135 joints.

Dopeless® technology is a dry, multifunctional coating applied to TenarisHydril premium connections. Automated application of the coating at the mill makes every Dopeless® connection, anywhere in the world, consistent in quality and reliability. In addition to helping operators reduce their environmental footprint, Dopeless® premium connections streamline operations by reducing running times up to 25 percent and achieving nearly zero re make ups and rejects.

Ms Julie Mathis, Technical Sales Manager USA, said that "Using Dopeless® technology on this project, the operator encountered absolutely zero issues. So in addition to reducing HSE risks, the asset team avoided NPT associated with re make ups."

Based on its experience on this project, the operator has continued to place orders for Dopeless® technology in deepwater Gulf of Mexico projects.
