Mr James Sanderson president of Steelworkers Union said that Georgetown steel mill employees, who were temporarily laid off, will not return back to work for another two weeks as the temporary layoffs have been extended due to the lack of orders.

He added that ArcelorMittal's Georgetown plant production and maintenance workers were scheduled to go back to work on March 30th 2009, but will not return now until April 13th 2009. Rolling mill workers were scheduled to return to work April 6th 2009 and will now go back April 20th 2009.

Mr Sanderson said that the employees are still eligible to receive unemployment benefits and supplemental employment pay.
