In response to yesterday's vote by ArcelorMittal Georgetown union members which rejected a proposed contract, a company official issued the following statement:

Ms Katie Patterson, External Communications Manager for ArcelorMittal in a statement said that “'We are disappointed with the outcome of yesterday's vote, which was designed to put the plant on a more competitive footing.”

She added that ''The facility will remain closed with no plans to reopen as we continue to evaluate our options given the current labor situation and market conditions."
