It is reported that Corus workers in Stocksbridge and Rotherham will receive bonuses they are owed after all following talks with the majority union Community.

As per report, Corus had previously announced their intention to renege on agreements to pay bonuses for the last quarter, despite workers having completed their contracted duties. But it has now agreed to pay up, following discussions with the Community union.

Officer for Steel Mr Roy Rickhuss said that "Corus have conceded that workers have a legitimate right to be paid for work that they have performed. These bonuses are not an added extra paid only in the good times, but core conditions which have produced an efficient, highly skilled and motivated workforce. Community is relieved that Corus have retreated from the position of earing up contracts without consultation."

He added that "This decision restores entitlements to our members and helps repair the breach of trust caused by Corus. Although there remain a number of issues to be resolved around when our members will receive this payment, the developments enable us to restart our normal procedure and enter into our annual review of terms and conditions. This issue will now form part of discussions."
