Downsizing deals - Georgetown steel mill closes earlier than expected
WMBF reported that the ArcelorMittal steel mill in Georgetown has closed 2 days earlier than originally expected.
As per report, the plant closed its doors on July 10th 2009 due to inventory running out, leaving 245 workers without a job.
Mr James Sanderson president of the Georgetown Steelworkers Union said that they do not know if or when the plant will reopen.
Company officials said that they will need to see major improvements in the economy before they can start up again.
