Evening Gazette reported that players and officials at Guisborough Town football club are showing their support for Teesside’s steel workers, both home and away.

As per report, members of the first team squad are now proudly sporting 'Save Our Steel' T shirts during the warm up for their games. They are supporting the many steel workers across Teesside who face an uncertain future over their jobs. And the club has vowed to keep showing their colors throughout the season and continuing to spread the message.

Mr Sandy Mackenzie chairman of Guisborough Town Football Club said that "I worked at the sites in Redcar and Lackenby for 30 years and I suppose I am lucky because I’m retired now. We just want to spread the message and show that we care. My son works down there now and they are in limbo."

The team will wear the T shirts before each home and away game this season. And the new shirts have got the team off to a good start as they held league leaders Sunderland RCA to a 1-1 draw after their first outing.

Mr Sandy said that "We will take the shirt to all of the Northern League grounds. I thought what they did at the Boro was great and I am lucky because I have the opportunity to do this because it’s my football club. But everything I have got is through the steel works."
