It is reported that Impress USA is laying off 20 workers.
Mr Eric Ford VP of Local 325 of the United Food & Commercial Union said that the workers at Impress USA will be laid off by September 8th 2009. The cutbacks leave about 80 workers on the job.
Impress, which makes lids for cans, operates out of the old Weirton Steel warehouse in the Half Moon Industrial Park in Weirton.
ArcelorMittal still owns the building and it used to supply Impress USA with most of its steel.
But Ford said that those purchases will likely be reduced because the company can save USD 1 million a month buying steel from Korea.
