Coshocton Tribune reported that layoffs and reduced schedules are expected to continue at AK Steel’s Coshocton and Zanesville plants.
Mr Alan McCoy VP government and public relations said there were 150 employees on a layoff last week 75 from each plant. This week there were a total of 145 on a layoff at both plants 60 from Zanesville and 75 from Coshocton.
Mr McCoy said that “We have been operating with layoffs and reduced schedules since late last fall. Are more expected, yes, it’s expected to continue.”
In addition to the layoffs, 120 at the Zanesville plant and 30 at the Coshocton plant received a reduced schedule.
Mr McCoy said business conditions were behind the layoffs and reduced schedules. AK Steel has plants in Ashland, Butler, Coshocton, Mansfield, Middletown, Rockport and Zanesville.
