It is reported that employees at Noble Metal Processing are the latest local victims of the economic downturn, with word that the facility at 46 Plant Farm Rd will close on May 22nd 2009.
Workers have been told the company will offer transition counseling to help with job search skills.
It may be noted that parent company Noble International Limited has been plagued by financial woes and recently informed employees of its decision to close all its laser welding operations in North America.
Noble was a leader in using robotic equipment to make laser welded steel door inners for the North American auto industry. Its head office has been notified by General Motors, Ford and Chrysler that they will seek other suppliers of laser welded products.
According to documents filed last week by Noble International with the US Securities & Exchange Commission, it indicates that Noble International and its Big Three customers were in talks concerning terms for re sourcing of the laser welding business, including financing to be provided to Noble during the re sourcing.
