Gazette Live reported that thousand of workers at Redcar’s Teesside Cast Products were boosted today by news that the steelmaker had secured orders to keep the plant operational until the end of October.

Since the collapse of an agreement in April, employees have been living in fear of redundancy.

Formal consultation with unions ended at the beginning of August, but Corus said it would reopen negotiations with employee reps.
