
Bloomberg reported that Tenaris SA workers at the Dalmine plant has scheduled an 8 hour strike to protest plans by the world's biggest maker of seamless steel tubes to reduce staff.
Mr Mirco Rota head of the Fiom Union in Bergamo said that "Almost 90% of the workers and a good number of white collar employees have agreed to go on strike."
He added that the strike is scheduled to start at 6 AM local time.
Tenaris said in a statement on September 28th 2009 that Tenaris Dalmine SpA presented a two year industrial plan that includes EUR 114 million of investments that will guarantee the company’s long term continuity.
It may be noted that the company is proposing to cut 717 jobs out of the workforce of 2,220 at the Dalmine facility.
