AP reported that ThyssenKrupp Waupaca foundry in Etowah is planning to lay off 160 workers as of April 3rd 2009. The facility employs about 1,400.
Mr Matt Rhodes a spokesman of company said that it's too early to tell if the cuts will be permanent. He says they are a direct result of sluggishness in the auto and truck markets because of the economic downturn.
He added that the Waupaca facilities make castings for brake calipers, supports, rotors and drums, as well as components for vehicle chassis.
