
It is reported that Duferco La Louviere has restarted operations on Wednesday morning.
The Federal Agency for Nuclear Control has issued a positive opinion about it.
The FANC was on September 15, production at Duferco La Louviere to shut down because an electric furnace had become radioactively contaminated. The Agency had discovered that a source of cesium-137 in the furnace had accidentally fallen. It was an incident of level 1 (7) to the INES scale, the severity of nuclear accidents shows.
Thirty workers were examined for radioactive contamination, but ultimately there were no risks were identified. Analysis of the plant gave the same result. By temporarily stopping the plant workers were thirty technically unemployed.
