Reuters reported that European Union antitrust regulators has extended the deadline for their review of Electricite de France's planned takeover of Belgian electricity supplier SPE SA to November 12th 2009 from October 28th 2009.

An EC official said that the commission pushed back the date because the Belgian competition authority had asked to review the case.

SPE is 51% owned by Belgium's Segebel SA.
