Chicago Tribune reported that a USD 22.5 million incentive package to relocate a North Side steelmaker to the South Side was approved Wednesday by the Chicago City Council.

The package was sweetened by USD 2 million since it was approved by the Community Development Commission in April 2011.

After more than a century in Lincoln Park, Finkl & Sons Co is redeveloping a 44 acre site at 1355 E 93rd St, where Verson Steel once operated. In exchange for the incentives, Finkl pledged to keep 300 jobs.
