Novinite reported that a fire was reported Saturday morning at a facility of the Kremikovtzi steel plant near Sofia.

A fire erupted at the ferroalloy production facility of the defunct Kremikovtzi steel mill near Sofia at around 10:00 AM on Saturday.

A total of 8 fire engines, 1 chemical fire fighting vehicle, 4 water tank trucks and 1 medical aid vehicle of the Sofia based Fire Safety and Civil Protection unit were dispatched to the site to battle the flames, the Interior Ministry reported.

The fire has destroyed oil filled transformers at the plant.

The flames have been extinguished but the reasons for the accident and the exact extent of the damages are yet to be identified.
