A SooNews.ca viewer said that there are strange flames being reported in the coke ovens at Essar Steel on Monday night.

SooNews.ca has been told that Blast Furnace Number 6 has been evacuated but that information has not been confirmed. Reports of the strange flames started around 5 PM Monday.

There has been no report of injuries or what may have caused the flames.

Sault Ste Marie residents on both sides of the river have reported the seeing the flames. Two weeks ago the coke oven area was evacuated when another fire broke out in the area.
