Honda Cars Philippines Inc said that it is assessing the possible impact of Thailand flooding on local operations.

Mr Voltaire Gonzales, head of HCPI sales department, said that "We are still assessing the situation." He declined to comment on the possible effects of the flooding to the supply of vehicle imports from Thailand.

Honda Cars Philippines imports three Honda models from Thailand CR V, Accord and Jazz for Philippine distribution. It manufactures the City and Civic in its Sta Rosa, Laguna plant.

Gonzales said the company issues an official statement shortly on how the Thailand floods affected operations in the Philippines.

Honda earlier said it would make efforts to overcome the temporary interruption and minimize the impact on Honda customers, dealers and associates. It added that "We apologize for any inconvenience that might have caused our dear customers and thank everyone for their patience as we manage this challenging situation."

Intermittent rainfall since July 2011 caused flood damage in central and northern Thailand. The flood disrupted Honda's automobile production at Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co Limited in Ayutthaya, as well as motorcycle and power product production at Thai Honda Manufacturing Co Limited in Bangkok.

Honda Thailand said in an earlier report that automobile production was suspended from October 4th 2011 through October 8th 2011 as a result of disruptions in the supply of production parts. On October 8th 2011, it was confirmed that flood water was on HATC's plant property. Due to difficulty in accessing the facility because of an evacuation order, HATC is planning to continue the suspension of production beyond October 10th 2011.

Meanwhile, Honda said that motorcycle production is continuing normally. Power products production was suspended from October 6th 2011 through October 8th 2011 due to the impact of disruptions in the supply of production parts. But there is a plan to continue the suspension of power products production beyond October 10th 2011 as the outlook for the recovery of parts supply is still unclear. There has been no flood damage within the property of TH's plant.
