
According to the latest data regarding crude steel production in France released by the French Steel Federation, French crude steel production amounted to 1,412,100 tonnes in October 2011, up by 2.8% YoY and up by 8.6% MoM.
In October 2011, steel production in France using electric arc furnaces fell by 1.2% YoY, amounting to 571,350 tonnes, while steel production with blast furnace technology totaled 840,750 tonnes, up by 5.7% YoY.
Meanwhile, in the first 10 months of 2011, France's crude steel production amounted to 13,325,250 tonnes, up by 2.5% YoY. In this period, steel production in France using electric arc furnaces rose by 10.9% YoY, reaching 5,177,700 tonnes, while steel production with blast furnace technology totaled 8,147,550 tonnes, dropped by 2.2% YoY.
The FFA also noted that domestic crude steel production in the first 10 months of 2011 was 17.8% below the January to October 2008 production figures.
