Employees at the Gerdau steel mill in Cartersville presented a check for USD 10,500 to Advocates for Children on July 16th 2012. The tournament was held on April 13th 2012 at the Floyd County Wildlife Club in Rome.
Mr Jim Christina VP & GM at the Gerdau mill in Cartersville mill said that "We had 72 people come out this year to support this wonderful cause. It's really a win win scenario for everyone involved. Our employees have a great time and we are able to help kids in need through Advocates for Children."
The partnership between Gerdau and Advocates for Children dates back to 2002. Over the years, employees have organized and participated in several fundraising events benefiting the organization, including the Allen Silkwood Memorial Golf Tournament and the Duck Derby.
In 2011, the Cartersville mill received the Recognition in Community Involvement Award from the Steel Manufactures Association, a national industry organization, recognizing employees for their volunteer work and commitment to Advocates for Children.
