Nikkei reported that Honda Motor Co will return to full production at all seven of its plants in North America, including Mexico, by the end of 2011.
The carmaker said that its plant in the US state of Indiana is now running two shifts, doubling annual capacity to 200,000 civic sedans a year. The factory has added about 1,000 workers.
Honda is also planning by December to operate a full second shift at its Ohio plant, where it makes the midsize Accord sedan. Some assembly lines for finished cars have been running a single shift.
With parts disruptions stemming from the March 11 earthquake easing, Honda is looking to ramp up sales in its key North American market.
