It is reported that Romanian and Hungarian authorities opened, with a 10 month delay, the Arad Szeged gas pipe. The opening ceremony was held at Csanadpalota in Hungary.
The pipeline should have been functioning on January 1st 2010 but things were not made on time and it was postponed for July 29th 2010. So far, the only supply with natural gas was from Russia.
For now, Romania will only be able to import natural gas through the new pipe because technically, it cannot export yet. Romania managed to open up to the European gas market, more specifically to the Vienna stock exchange.
After a second delay, the pipeline is finally up and running. This is the most advanced inter connecting project to other pipelines in other states. Another pipe, Giurgiu Ruse could be finished by the end of 2011.
