It is reported that South Korean steel producer Hyundai Hysco plans to reduce its production of pre painted steel sheets in 2012 as compared with 2011, concentrating its output on automotive steel sheets.
Accordingly, Hyundai Hysco plans to produce 230,000 tonnes of pre painted steel sheets in 2012, compared to the estimated output of 270,000 tonnes in 2011, as the company is seeking to avoid incurring losses in its pre painted steel sheet business.
Unlike other local makers of pre painted steel sheets, Hyundai Hysco has difficulties in making profits from the sales of the product in question, as most of its pre painted steel sheets are for use in construction works rather than for production of household appliances.
In particular, the recent deterioration of domestic market conditions for sales of pre painted steel sheets for use in construction and the large inflow of low priced Chinese products have made it even more difficult for the company earn profits from the sales of its pre painted steel sheets.
