Hyundai and Kia to unveil new cars in Guangzhou auto show

Yonhap reported that South Korean automakers Hyundai Motor Co and Kia Motors Corporation have unveiled new cars and showcased popular models at the ongoing motor show in Guangzhou in a bid to tap deeper into the Chinese market.

Hyundai said the new Santa Fe, its flagship sports utility vehicle, was premiered at the Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition that runs from November 20th 2012 to December 2nd 2012.

The new Santa Fe, exclusively targeting Chinese drivers, is equipped with a 189 horsepower theta 2.4 liter gasoline direct injection engine or a theta 2.0 liter turbocharged GDI engine.

Hyundai said the new SUV will hit Chinese showrooms from 2013.

The South Korean carmaker also displayed a hydrogen fuel cell version of its popular Tucson ix SUV at the Guangzhou motor show, along with its other environment friendly models including the Sonata hybrid sedan and the Blueon, a five door hatchback electric car. Its smaller affiliate Kia is also prepared to show off its popular models in China.

Kia said its new van RP, a revamped model of the Carens, was revealed at the auto show for the first time in China. The Kia GT concept, highly hailed at previous international motor shows, will also be exhibited to Chinese customers in Guangzhou.
