The results of dioxin and heavy metal contamination tests at the ILVA steel plant will be presented in October 2012.
The information is contained in a statement from the Ministry of Health.
As part of the Environment and Health strategic plan funded by the Ministry and the Health Service in collaboration with the Taranto Health Board Prevention Department, 50 people were involved in an exploratory human biology monitoring study.
All had worked as breeders on farms in various parts of the Taranto province. The aim of the study is to assess the nature of any residual contamination by heavy metals and dioxins remaining in their bodies.
