Indonesia's tin export in October 2008 slid by 59.64% to 4,439 tonnes from that of the previous month, due to a fall of global commodity prices following the weakening demand.

Mr Agus Tjahyono trade ministry director of the mining products export of the tin was quoted by Bisnis Indonesia daily as saying that the prices of most of mining products had declined.

According to Mr Hutomo Dharmo Sutomo secretary of Indonesian tin association, tin price has decreased to USD 18,000 per tonne from previous price of USD 23,000 per tonne.

Indonesia is the world's second biggest tin producer after China.
