
ITV News Wales reported that a joint investigation has been launched by South Wales Police and the Health and Safety Executive following a serious incident at Port Talbot.
A man, who works at the plant, is understood to remain in a critical condition after being airlifted to the University Hospital of Wales.
Officers received the call but would give no further details about the nature of the incident.
Mr Robert Dangerfield spokesperson for TATA Steel in Port Talbot says the company is co operating fully with an investigation by the South Wales Police and the Health and Safety Executive.
He added that "We can confirm that an incident took place yesterday afternoon. One person was affected and taken to hospital. We are co operating fully with the investigation."
Mr Dangerfield added that he could not comment on the circumstances of the incident due to the investigation.
