
The Japan Iron & Steel Federation has gathered and released on 1st statistics on steel export (all steel basis) of October 2011.
According to this, steel export in October was 3,400,000 tonnes. Export amount in dollar was USD 4,252.08 million and that in JPY was 326.1 billion. Compared with the same month last year, quantity decreased by 0.4% YoY for 8 months in a row, amount in dollar increased by11.2% for 22 months in a row and that in yen increased by 2.3% for the first time in 2 months. Compared with the previous month, quantity increased by 3.0% for the first time in 2 months, and amount in dollar decreased by 0.2% in dollar, and by 0.6% in yen both for 2 months in a row.
Export of ordinary steel was 2,171,000 tonnes, down by 2.4% YoY from the same month last year for 2 months in a row and also down by 3.2% MoM from the previous month for 2 months in a row.
By item with % compared with the same month last year, galvanized steel sheets coils (403,000 tonnes, down 7.8%) decreased for 8 months in a row, cold rolled steel coils (278,000 tonnes, down 15.4%) did for 2 months in a row, shapes and sections (67,000 tonnes, down 1.8%) did for the first time in 7 months, welded forged pipes tubes (53,000 tonnes, down 33.8%) did for the first time in 2 months, seamless pipes tubes (51,000 tonnes, down 11.4%) did for the first time in 2 months and steel bars (29,000 tonnes, down 21.4%) did for the first time in 3 months. While, hot rolled steel coils (740,000 tonnes, up 10.8%) increased for the first time in 2 months, steel plates (288,000 tonnes, up 0.8%) did for the first time in 4 months, electrical steel sheets coils (72,000 tonnes, up 12.6%) did for the first time in 2 months and wire rods (43,000 tonnes, up 19.0%) did for 4 months in a row.
By item with % compared with the previous month, welded forged pipes tubes (down 58.3%), wire rods (down 26.7%), shapes and sections (down 11.8%), electrical sheets coils (down 10.2%), cold sheets coils (down 7.1%), seamless pipes tubes (down 6.1%) and so on decreased respectively. While, bars (up 40.7%), galvanized sheets coils (up 6.7%), hot coils (up 5.8%), plates (up 3.1%) and so on increased respectively.
By destination on all steel basis with % compared with the same month last year, export quantity to the biggest Korea (650,000 tonnes, down 19.7%) decreased for 11 months in a row and that to China (531,000 tonnes, down 11.4%) did for 7 months in a row. While, export quantity to Thailand (475,000 tonnes, up 27.0%) increased for 4 months in a row, that to Taiwan (350,000 tonnes, up 17.2%) did for the first time in 2 months and that to USA (132,000 tonnes, up 44.4%) did for 3 months in a row.
