
Japanese consumer confidence index up by 0.8 point in Aug
The Cabinet Office reported that Japan's consumer confidence index rose 0.8 point from July 2012 to 40.5 in August 2012, marking the first improvement in three months. The index climbed 3.5 points from the previous year.
The government left unchanged its overall assessment for consumer confidence, saying it is weakening.
